The Discover Halifax podcast explores the influence of various different industries within Halifax and how they have grown in this city, including how Halifax can support the needs of industries and their events. Interviews with local experts cover topics that range from life sciences, to aerospace, oceans, technology and natural resources.
Opportunity
Discover Halifax’s focus on bringing events from a variety of associations, corporations, and/or groups to the city of Halifax allowed for a platform to give local experts a place to discuss their industry while also highlighting the way Halifax is a unique and beneficial location to host an event.
With less of a focus on monetization for the show, we’ve been able to focus more on bringing in engaging people to push the city as a place industries want (and should) visit for their next event. Centering Halifax as the city that provides for any and every industry from all corners of the planet, and showing how the city can be a global hub, has been an opportunity for the show to explore.

The outcome of this focus on industry engagement over monetization has lead to over $5 million of new leads that have come directly from the podcast. The show is less about reaching more people, but about reaching the right people, and with a focus on quality discussions, we have been able to do just that.
